Garrison Brothers Laguna Madre Earns Double Gold

Garrison Brothers Distillery of Hye, Texas, is pleased to announce that its rarest, oldest expression to date, Laguna Madre has won the Double Gold Medal at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC). The Double Gold designation is awarded to the very few entries that receive Gold Medal ratings by all members of the judging panel. Also taking home wins, Garrison Brothers’ Single Barrel earned Silver Medal and three Bronze Medals went to BalmorheaCowboy and Small Batch.  Since its introduction in 2000, the SFWSC has become one of the most respected and influential spirits competitions in the world.

“We are honored that our majestic Laguna Madre bourbon has been recognized for the uniquely complex beauty that it is. We poured our heart and soul into this fine nectar for the past 10 years,” said master distillery Donnis Todd in a press release.

This year marks Laguna Madre’s first year entering the competition. Over a decade in the making, Laguna Madre represents the pinnacle of Garrison Brothers small-batch, handcrafted process. In 2020, the distillery had planned its first release to the market, but when the coronavirus pandemic hit, this extra special bottle was used instead to help launch Operation Crush COVID-19 driving donations to Good Bourbon for a Good Cause the distillery’s 501(c)3 public charity. The 2020 Laguna Madre was only available at the distillery and was given away to those who donated $1,000. The organization was able to raise more than $400,000 to help American communities recover and rebuild from the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Garrison Brothers was founded by Dan Garrison in 2006 and officially entered the market in 2010.
