Whiskey Del Bac of Tucson, Arizona, announced the Feb. 19 release of its 2022 Spring Distiller’s Cut. It is the distillery’s Whiskey Del Bac Classic (unsmoked) aged in new American white oak and then finished over additional months in Armagnac barrels. The 2022 Spring Distiller’s Cut is cask-strength at 111 proof.
According to the distillery, you can expect raisin, vanilla, rose and roasted nectarines on the nose. Pour it neat, and you may taste sugared plums, red wine, white pepper and stone fruit can show up on the mid palate, potentially ending with a lingering milk chocolate finish. Poured over rocks, you may detect tannic notes of white wine and black tea. White pepper increases, but the milk chocolate finish deepens. Whiskey Del Bac encourages you to drink this whiskey as you prefer, but found it best served neat with four drops of ice cold water.
This is a small-batch release with less than 400 total bottles available and will only be released within Arizona. You may purchase it online and have it shipped anywhere in Arizona or for pickup at the distillery.
The 2022 Spring Distiller’s Cut will be available on the website starting at 9 a.m. MST on February 19, 2022 and available at the distillery during normal retail hours: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Each bottle retails at $90. Whiskey Del Bac is limiting each purchase to three bottles of Distiller’s Cut to ensure enough for others.
