Columbus, Ohio-based Middle West Spirits announced it has expanded its distribution partnership with Independent Distributor Network to 15 states, which include: Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Dakota, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee and Texas.
“We could not be more excited about our expanding partnership and distribution footprint with IDN,” said Victor Spotloe, vice president of branded sales at Middle West Spirits. “We’ve built an incredible relationship thus far with the IDN team and, strategically, it made sense to continue growing within their network. While we are certainly grateful to the access of services and solutions they provide, we are also thrilled to help grow their portfolio of brands, especially with our award-winning whiskies.”
Most recently, Middle West received six medals in the 2022 ASCOT Awards, an international spirits competition created by Fred Minnick. For the second year in a row, Middle West received an award for every entry, which included two double platinum, two platinum and two gold medals and a “Best in Class” for its Single Barrel Straight Rye Whiskey (Dark Pumpernickel Cask Strength). Additional accolades include Beverage Tasting Institute’s Platinum Medal Superlative and a 96-point rank for its 6 Year Old Sherry Finished Bourbon Whiskey, and a Gold Medal and a 93-point rank for its Vim & Petal American Dry Gin; USA Today’s Best Craft Vodka Distillery for the OYO line; American Whiskey Convention awards; among others.
“Our partnership with Middle West is truly a symbiotic relationship in what our team is trying to accomplish as leading independent wine and spirits distributors,” said Mark Harmann, National Sales Director, Independent Distributor Network. “We are dedicated to tailoring a business model that best supports each brand, while ensuring all the partners we engage with align with our values and have a proven growth strategy—and Middle West does that and so much more. We are excited about the future of the brand and the future of our relationship.”
Middle West currently produces 15 grain-to-glass products, including its Straight Dark Pumpernickel Rye Whiskey, Michelone Reserve Bourbon, OYO vodkas, Vim & Petal gin, Bourbon Cream, and its newest Double Cask Collection. All products will be distributed through IDN.
“Middle West has multiple products that could possibly be some of the best whiskey I’ve had,” said Christian LeGuen, director of spirits at Favorite Brands, and an IDN member. “The deep amber and copper colors, the smoothness, and packaging are hard to beat, along with everyday whiskey price points. We are honored to represent Middle West in Texas and New Mexico.”
