In the aftermath of a deadly wildfire that destroyed the town of Lahaina in Maui, the owner of Kula-based Ocean Organic Farm & Distillery expressed grief over the tragedy.
“We are devastated by the horrific situation resulting from the wildfires here on Maui,” Ocean Organic Farm & Distillery owner Shay Smith said in a statement. “Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the families, friends and neighbors that have been impacted. We want to express our gratitude for the first responders that are risking their lives dealing with this tragedy and because of their efforts, our employees are safe and the Ocean Organic Farm & Distillery in Kula has been spared.
“As with our neighbors, we need to stay alert since the danger is not over. We are part of the community and are assessing immediate needs so that we can best help those requiring support.
