Spirit Hound Distillers of Lyons, Colorado, is excited to announce that it has earned top honors at the 2024 London International Spirits Competition. Spirit Hound was recognized as 2024 Whisky of the Year in the American Single Malt category, while also being named Best in Show – Americas, as the best entry of any spirit from the Americas. This is the second time in three years that the Colorado-based distillery has won these same two categories at the renowned London spirits competition, the previous time being in 2022. Spirit Hound’s New American Gin and Café Colorado coffee liqueur also earned medals at the 2024 competition.
Spirit Hound has demonstrated a proven track record of product accolades and awards, tallying more than 70 awards at the national and international levels for its acclaimed spirits. In February 2024, Spirit Hound was awarded five medals at the annual American Craft Spirits Association’s Judging of Craft Spirits with Spirit Hound’s Straight Malt Whisky, Honey Whisky, New American Gin, Rocky Mountain Vodka, and Café Colorado Coffee Liqueur each being recognized. Additionally, Spirit Hound also earned a pair of gold medals recently for its Café Colorado Coffee Liqueur and Rocky Mountain Vodka at the 2024 Denver International Spirits Competition.
“We are a product-focused company,” said CEO Brad Stevenson. “I always say that you can taste passion. And hats off to our co-founder and head distiller Craig Engelhorn and the entire distillery team, for having that passion. Their hard work and focus on quality is reflected in the award-winning taste of our spirits, and we care very much about that.”
Spirit Hound has been busy lately. They have been recognized as one of the fastest-growing spirit brands in Colorado for the past several years. In 2023, they launched a brand refresh and expanded distribution into Kansas, Michigan, and Wyoming. Spirit Hound has renovated and expanded its production and hospitality facilities in Lyons, Colorado, and recently opened a Denver Tasting Room in August 2024 (3266 Tejon St., in the LoHi neighborhood).
“Our focus is on keeping up with demand and pleasing our customers by maintaining our reputation for making world-class spirits,” said Stevenson. He also noted that Spirit Hound will expand distribution to several additional markets by the end of the 2024 calendar year.
