Los Angeles-based Filmland Spirits announced that is has continued to grow its footprint across the United States, expanding into Kansas, Colorado, Florida and Illinois.
Launched in 2022, Filmland Spirits was born from an enthusiasm for whiskey, a passion for movies and a dedication to story-telling. The Filmland team believes that every whiskey has a story, and every story deserves a whiskey. The result is a wildly creative pairing of an original retro B-Movie concept — complete with monsters, robots and over-the-top plots – with a delicious and unique whiskey – each of which has already won a Gold or Double Gold Medal. Even the bottles tell part of the story as they are custom designed to reflect a mid-20th century style reminiscent of old movie houses and feature movie posters as labels.
In less than two years since the release of its first bottles, Filmland Spirits has earned the respect and support of whiskey fans and experts alike, as well as a collection of awards from some of the country’s most respected spirits competitions, including a Gold Medal from the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition for the newest release to its core portfolio, Ryes of the Robots Extended Cut. Audiences and distributors in new markets have shared this reaction.
“We have had a very successful launch of Filmland Spirits’ fine whiskeys in our market,” said Luke Gladden, specialty brands manager, Crawford Sales Company, Kansas City, Kansas. “With the fantastic art work on the labels and award-winning liquid on the inside, it has been very well received. We were able to secure some of their 9yr Straight Kentucky Bourbon, Town at the End of Tomorrow, for the launch. I don’t think it made it a day and half before we went through all of that.”
“We’ve been thrilled with the response – from both critics and consumers – as we introduce our award-winning, small batch whiskeys to new markets,” said Kristin Killpack, co-founder and vice president of sales, Filmland Spirits. “The passion our new distributor partners are showing for our portfolio is extending to retailers. From reorders to requests for bottle picks, there is a lot of love for Filmland Spirits and that will continue to drive growth as we expand.”
The Filmland Spirits portfolio is now available on shelves and backbars in 10 states (Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Nevada and Washington state) as well as available for purchase online.
