B.H. James Distillers Releases New Single Barrel Wheated Bourbon

Shawn McCormick, owner and founder of Adairville, Kentucky-based B. H. James Distillers, proudly announces the release of the distillery’s second single barrel whiskey: Burton James Uniquely American Whiskey Single Barrel Selection – Wheated Bourbon.

McCormick purchased the newly filled barrel from MGP in 2015 and has been waiting patiently to finally share it with bourbon enthusiasts. Filled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, on April 6, 2015, the barrel was dumped at B.H. James Distillers January 9, 2024 making it an 8.7-year-old whiskey.

The 51% corn, 45% wheat and 4% malted barley whiskey was allowed to rest for a few months until being bottled at barrel proof of 113.6 (56.8% ABV) and released for sale on May 17, 2024.

The whiskey is named after McCormick’s great-grandfather, Burton Hulon James, who played professional baseball from 1908 to 1919. Each bottle is adorned with a “baseball card” like hang tag featuring Burton James on the front and the stats of the whiskey on the back. The one-of-a-kind single barrel whiskey can be purchased exclusively at the distillery for $69.99.
