Barrell Craft Spirits Unveils Bourbon Cask Finish Series: Ice Wine

Barrell Craft Spirits (BCS) of Louisville, Kentucky, has launched the fourth offering in its Barrell Bourbon Cask Finish Series: Ice Wine. The limited-edition Series utilizes the company’s blending and finishing expertise to make bespoke blends of straight bourbon whiskeys with unique finishes. Previous cask-finished bourbons include Amburana, A Tale of Two Islands Rum Finish, and Mizunara.

For the newest expression, the BCS blending team created a blend of Indiana (5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11-year), Kentucky (5 & 8-year), Tennessee (9 & 15-year), and Wyoming (9-year) bourbon whiskeys featuring multiple mashbills. The blend was then further matured in Ice Wine casks and bottled at cask strength (106.52 proof) in Kentucky with a derived mashbill of corn (71%), rye (24%), malted barley (4%), and wheat (1%).

Making an exceptional ice wine requires optimal conditions and great care throughout the entire winemaking process. The BCS blending team took the same meticulous approach in carefully selecting barrels and creating a blend of mashbills and ages to harmonize with the intense sweetness, rich texture, and lively acidity of the ice wine. The resulting bourbon is bright and complex, with a rich body, and notes of stone fruit and white chocolate.

The new expression is now available online via the BCS website at barrellbourbon.com and in select retailers for the suggested retail price of $89.99 per 750ml bottle.

Founded in 2013 in Louisville, Kentucky, BCS selects and blends products that explore different distillation methods, barrels, and aging environments. BCS’s extensive stocks of high-quality casks mean it can craft extraordinary blends that maximize the nuances of each ingredient. Creative finishes and a liberated approach to blending guides every product release.
