Eda Rhyne Distilling Co. of Asheville, North Carolina, announced this week that it sustained severe flood damage from Hurricane Helene.
The storm ripped a devastating path across Western North Carolina in late September, causing catastrophic flooding and landslides while knocking out electricity, water, internet and cell service across the Southeast. Eda Rhyne is located near Biltmore Village, an Asheville destination along the Swannanoa River, which suffered from extreme flooding.
Via Instagram, Eda Rhyne revealed that its tasting room and production area took on 5 feet of water during the storm. “The damage is significant, and while we’re assessing the next steps, our commitment to crafting spirits inspired by this resilient landscape remains strong,” the company posted.
The distillery, which was recently featured in a story in CRAFT SPIRITS magazine, also launched a fundraising campaign to support its staff, noting that none of the funds will be used for business cleanup or damage repair.
