Troy, Michigan-based Shankar Distillers’s craft spirits portfolio is growing with a new premium tequila brand, 900 Grados, available in Blanco, Reposado and Añejo varieties, just in time for holiday celebrations and gift giving.
“We produced an exceptional tequila in partnership with a tequilera in Jalisco, Mexico exclusively for Shankar Distillers,” said Varchasvi Shankar, founder of Shankar Distillers. “Tequila is the fastest growing spirit on the planet right now. It will be a nice complement to our Michigan-made craft bourbon, gin and vodka lines.”
To celebrate, Shankar Distillers is hosting a launch party for the 900 Grados Tequila on Nov. 16 from 4-11 p.m. at the company’s tasting room located at 1030 Chicago Road in Troy. It promises to be a festive evening filled with tequila tastings, cocktails, mariachi, Mexican food and more.
900 Grados Tequila is available at area retailers and restaurants across Michigan, Georgia, Florida and Texas.
The 900 Grados has three expressions:
- 900 Grados Tequila Blanco: 100% Blue Weber Agave shines with crisp notes of lime zest, bell pepper and jasmine. Perfect for sipping, elevated cocktails, and shots.
- 900 Grados Tequila Reposado: Aged for at least four months in bourbon barrels, this tequila has a smooth body of vanilla, papaya and coconut that finishes with notes of toffee and subtle oak.
- 900 Grados Tequila Añejo: Aged for 14 months in bourbon barrels, this tequila features a rich, smooth profile with cocoa, coconut, dried fruit and caramel, ideal for the tequila connoisseur or whiskey enthusiast.
The Shankar Distillers tasting room is open Wednesday through Sunday and tours are available Friday and Saturday. Tasting room hours are Wednesday and Thursday 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday 3 p.m. to midnight, Saturday 11 a.m. to midnight and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
