Cedar Ridge Unveils The QuintEssential: Wine Club, First Meeting

Swisher, Iowa-based Cedar Ridge Distillery, under the direction of master blender Murphy Quint, has released the fourth in a series of limited-edition expressions of their award-winning American Single Malt, The QuintEssential: Wine Club, First Meeting.

“Rooted in our winery heritage, this release is a tribute to that legacy,” said Quint. “While past expressions have included a foundation of either New American Oak or French Oak, this release exclusively features wine-finishing casks: Amontillado Sherry, Tokaji, Moscatel, and Pinot Noir. Each cask is complex in its own right, and I enjoyed the challenge of blending those complex flavors.”

The release comes on the heels of the U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) announcing its final rule designating American Single Malt Whiskey as its own category.

“I’m incredibly proud of our American Single Malt community,” said Quint. “The distilleries that pushed through the challenges over the last nine years, the retailers and bartenders who believed in us when it all seemed like a distant dream, and, most importantly, the whiskey lovers who truly made this moment a reality. This achievement is a testament to the power of passion, persistence, and community.”

Quint says that every QuintEssential Special Release is a labor of love and patience.

“Blending finishing casks to achieve the desired result is as much an art as a science, and like any creation, it often takes time to develop the full picture,” he says. “This release truly tested my patience, but the extra time and care were well worth it. I’m thrilled with the final result and can’t wait to share this expression.”

The QuintEssential Wine Club, First Meeting follows the Untitled Cigar Malt Project, The QuintEssential Pete & Sherri, and The QuintEssential Portside.  Enthusiasts and professionals have embraced all of The QuintEssential releases, and they have been medaled in the World Whiskies Awards, The Ascot Awards, and The Barleycorn Awards.  The QuintEssential Portside scored 97 points from The Wine Enthusiast.

Available at the Cedar Ridge Distillery in Iowa and Online Pre-Sale, with additional states to follow, The QuintEssential Special Release: Wine Club, First Meeting is bottled at 118.1% abv and has an SRP of $99.99.
