Lovingston, Virginia-based Virginia Distillery Co. is excited to announce the latest release in The Brewer’s Coalition, a limited-edition series of American single malt whiskies finished in casks from top breweries across the country. The newest addition, Boulevard Brewing Co. Proper Pour Stout Cask Finish American Single Malt, is a collaboration with Boulevard Brewing Co. of Kansas City, Missouri, bringing together the bold flavors of stout beer and American Single Malt whisky in a one-of-a-kind release.
“Proper Pour represents the perfect union of bourbon and wine barrels, thoughtfully selected to showcase Virginia Distillery Co.’s Single Malt Whisky. This Double-Barreled Imperial Stout is first aged in Bourbon barrels for 20 months and then finished for an additional 5 months in French Oak Cabernet barrels. The result is a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, highlighting the distinct character of both barrel profiles,” said Quinn Reeder, barrel program lead brewer at Boulevard Brewing Co.
Virginia Distillery Co. partners with some of the nation’s most respected breweries, using their barrels to impart distinct and dynamic flavors to its whisky. This release, aged in Boulevard Brewing Proper Pour Stout barrels, enhances the whisky with rich and complex notes. Aromas of blackberry cobbler, cherries jubilee, and Madagascar vanilla build on the palate with flavors of rich plums, cocoa, and baking spice. Bottled at 100 proof, this expression highlights the innovative spirit of The Brewer’s Coalition while celebrating Boulevard Brewing Co.’s craft beer legacy.
