Root Shoot Malting has officially earned Certified Regenified™ status, becoming the first malthouse in Colorado to achieve this recognition. The certification highlights Root Shoot’s leadership in traceability, soil health and regenerative values within the craft beverage supply chain.
As the first regenerative certifier approved by the USDA’s AMS Process Verified Program, Regenified recognizes farms and producers like Root Shoot who are setting the standard for regenerative agriculture. For Root Shoot, this milestone underscores the company’s mission to strengthen connections from farm to glass and to help build a healthier future for beer and spirits.
Regenerative farming integrates time-tested ecological principles that fosters healthier soil, biodiversity, cleaner water, and resilient ecosystems all benefitting communities, the planet, and human health. Root Shoot’s Regenified certification demonstrates how a craft malthouse can put those values into action.
The certification process is rigorous, with Regenified measuring and documenting over 65 indicators including water infiltration, ground cover, plant canopy and diversity, soil biologic activity, compaction layers, root heath, fauna populations, and even livestock body condition.
“We are proud to be the first malthouse in Colorado to be Certified Regenified,” said Root Shoot Farmer and Founder Todd Olander. “This is about doubling down on our commitment to regenerative agriculture and soil health here in Colorado, showing that a better, healthier supply chain is possible for beer and spirits.”
Root Shoot Malting, a fifth-generation family farm and first-generation craft malthouse, now stands as Colorado’s first Certified Regenified™ malthouse. Available to brewers and distillers nationwide, Root Shoot is raising the bar for transparency, sustainability, and flavor in the craft beverage world.
