Cathead Distillery Introduces Tintype #3 ‘Kenny Brown’

Cathead Distillery, Mississippi’s first and oldest legal distillery, introduces Tintype #3 ‘Kenny Brown,’ the latest addition to its blues-inspired Tintype Series of limited-edition Old Soul Bourbons. Released alongside the 2025 editions of Tintype #1 (Captain Luke) and Tintype #2 (Hermon Hitson), the expanded lineup highlights the distillery’s growing whiskey portfolio, driven by increased age, varied mash bills, and long-term barrel aging in Mississippi’s heat and humidity.

“When we launched the Tintype Series in 2021, the goal was to bottle a piece of the South’s musical history and honor Mississippi’s blues roots,” said Richard Patrick, Co-Founder of Cathead Distillery. “Each year’s release lets us celebrate these artists and their stories, along with the organizations we support, from Music Maker to Hill Country Picnic.”

Aged 11 years | 103.5 proof | 60% Corn, 36% Rye, 4% Malted Barley

Making its debut in 2025, Tintype #3 honors Hill Country blues icon Kenny Brown, a lifelong torchbearer of North Mississippi’s distinctive music tradition. This expression introduces a new mash bill (36% rye), setting it apart from Tintype #1 and #2.

Aged 11 years and bottled at cask strength (103.5 proof), uncut and unfiltered, Tintype #3 showcases the effects of Mississippi’s climate on long-term maturation, resulting in a comforting bourbon layered with banana-nut-bread richness, buttery baked bread, toasted pecans, and warm baking spices.
