Chevalier Casks Launches Exchange, Expanding Its Spirits Industry Brokerage Business

Chevalier Casks announced the launch of the Chevalier Casks Exchange, an expansion of its established brokerage business that gives distilleries, brand owners, bottlers and other spirits industry partners more ways to source and sell whiskey barrels, bulk spirits and cooperage.

The hybrid model brings Chevalier’s direct brokerage experience into a broker-managed online marketplace. Buyers can explore current opportunities and pursue transactions through Buy Now listings, direct offers, negotiated transactions or Timed Sales. Sellers work directly with the Chevalier team to determine how an opportunity should be presented and which transaction approach best fits the inventory and their commercial objectives.

The launch comes as distilleries, brand owners and other industry partners navigate complex decisions involving inventory, capital and production. Transactions involving whiskey barrels and bulk spirits can extend well beyond price to include ownership records, bonded storage, financing, documentation, transfer requirements and timing. The Exchange gives customers greater visibility into available opportunities, more flexibility in how they transact and experienced support throughout the process.

“Access to inventory is only valuable if customers can move the opportunity forward,” said Coby Adkins, co-founder of Chevalier Casks. “The Exchange gives buyers and sellers more ways to see and pursue opportunities, while keeping our team involved when the details become complex. It expands how customers can work with Chevalier without changing the direct relationships and hands-on support at the center of our business.”

Chevalier’s involvement can begin before an opportunity is listed. The company works with sellers to review the inventory and transaction structure and, where applicable, confirm documented ownership and storage details with the federally bonded warehouse. Once terms are accepted, Chevalier coordinates the applicable agreements, documentation, payment, transfer requirements and settlement. As part of the blind, brokered closing, Chevalier takes title to the inventory to preserve the confidentiality of the buyer and seller.

“A listing is only the beginning,” said Ben Franzini, co-founder of Chevalier Casks. “Ownership records, warehouse location, lot size, financing, documentation, transfer requirements and timing still have to align. We built the Exchange around the entire transaction, with broker involvement from initial review through closing.”

Completing a purchase or sale is often only one stage in a customer’s larger commercial plan. Through its established industry relationships, Chevalier can make financing introductions and help customers coordinate bonded warehousing, bottling, packaging and logistics support. These capabilities give customers one point of connection for identifying and sourcing an opportunity, completing the transaction and preparing the inventory for its next commercial stage.

The Exchange adds new transaction options to Chevalier’s existing services. Direct brokerage and confidential, off-market sourcing remain central to the business, including privately handled opportunities that do not appear on the Exchange.

The Exchange was shaped by the co-founders’ experience across distilled spirits finance, law, distilling, operations, barrel sourcing, inventory planning and systems development. Coby Adkins brings experience in banking, lending, risk and barrel-backed financing; Ben Franzini brings systems engineering, barrel sourcing and long-term inventory planning experience; and Sam Rock brings legal and distilling experience from his work as an attorney and as co-founder and first distiller at Bluegrass Distillers.
