Maggie’s Farm Rum Invites Fans to Become Stakeholders Through Public Offering

Maggie’s Farm Rum, a beloved fixture not only in the rum distillery community, but in the Pittsburgh area, has announced an exciting opportunity for customers, followers and fans to become investors in the company’s future success. The family-owned small business is aiming to raise up to $1 million via a stock offering for sales & marketing of the brand to grow its footprint within not only its existing markets, but also to expand into new markets.

Founder and master distiller Tim Russell stated, “This equity raise campaign is a big deal for us. I started Maggie’s 12 years ago with the objective of being independent. It was also a weird time in my life in that I didn’t have a lot to lose. I didn’t exit the corporate world with some fortune, but rather just an unemployment check and a modest retirement fund. I did an early withdrawal of that 401k, ate the penalties and taxes, bought Maggie’s Farm’s first still, and signed that lease at Smallman Street. With the help of two friends, we managed to open it on a shoestring budget and made the best of focusing on the things that didn’t come from a big bankroll.”

Maggie’s Farm is a rum-focused distillery with two locations based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, known for its being what’s likely the highest-awarded brand of North American rum with over 100 medals and accolades, including multiple best-of-class, best-of-category, and best-of-show awards from some of the world’s most prestigious American craft and international spirits competitions. In 2022, Maggie’s Farm acquired a 22,000-square-feet warehouse in Pittsburgh’s suburb of Upper St. Clair, renovated the property into a new state-of-the-art distillery, including a cocktail bar and restaurant, that opened in early 2024.

The Russell Family: Tim, Layla and Alaina

“Almost 12 years since opening, things are different. Layla and I have started a family not only in the literal sense, but we’ve also brought in a large group of employees, many of which have been with us since the beginning. We’re still growing. A lot of our customers have grown with us to this point from those humble beginnings where we began putting together one of the highest awarded rum brands in the world from our original Strip District location.”

Russell continued, “Maintaining momentum gets trickier the longer you’re around, though, as does the competition at higher levels. But we know we have the reputation and quality in our rums and rum liqueurs, and the tangible award assets to back that up. But like any growing business we need to raise the capital to get those products and assets in front of more distributors and consumers. So, let’s grow together in a way where every owner is also a brand ambassador.”
