St. George Spirits of Alameda, California, announced the release of its latest California Reserve Apple Brandy. It is now available at the distillery’s bottle shop and St. George says bottles have also started shipping out elsewhere in California and to other states.
As with its previous California Reserve Apple Brandy releases, St. George sourced a field blend of local apples from a family-owned farm in Mendocino County to make this batch. It was aged 2–9 years in used American and French oak wine casks, as well as used American whiskey casks, with the bulk of the blend coming from barrels that were 6–7 years old at time of bottling.
According to the distillery, crisp apple leads the way on the nose, supported by notes of honeysuckle and crème brûlée. On the palate, you’ll discover warm baking spices, clover honey, and a hint of dark chocolate. St. George recommends sipping this one neat, but also recommends trying it in a Sidecar or Jack Rose.
