America’s Credit Union is excited to announce new scholarships that will enhance the lives of students at South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) in Olympia, Washington.
Beginning this spring, two ACU Craft Brewing and Distilling Scholarships will be available to students who are interested in leaping into that exciting and growing industry. With a new branch in the Tumwater Craft District and having financed Heritage Distillery and the SPSCC classrooms there, it’s a natural connection.
“ACU and SPSCC make a perfect team,” says Phil Prothero, ACU president. “We see this as an investment in our community. The students who take advantage of these scholarships will be tomorrow’s entrepreneurs. We want to be part of that future. The seeds of opportunity we plant today bloom into successful businesses and livelihoods of tomorrow.”
In addition to the scholarships, ACU is supporting SPSCC’s athletics programs. “Many of us live in Olympia and Tumwater and we have been anticipating the opportunity to contribute to our community. With a new branch in Tumwater, we will be more involved than ever!” said Prothero.
“It’s so wonderful to have a partner who shares one of our top goals: empowering our students to pursue their passions and inspiring them to be part of our region’s growing economy,” said Kelly Green, SPSCC’s Vice President for Advancement. “These scholarships are a true reflection of ACU’s commitment to opportunity for our next generation of business leaders.”
The ACU Tumwater Branch is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2024 and will be located in the Craft District.
