Hinterhaus Distilling of Arnold, California, has earned accolades for its South Grove Gin from Sunset magazine.
At the magazine’s International Spirits Competition, the gin received 95 points and judges unanimously gave the spirit their ‘Best of Gin’ and Double Gold approval.
Sunset is the leading media brand of the western lifestyle, and was founded in 1898. Its annual Sunset International Spirits Competition is judged by distillers, large volume buyers, influencers and other industry professionals.
South Grove Gin is distilled in small batches from 100% California grapes and fresh Sierra Nevada water that collects just a few miles away from the distillery’s operations.
“We partner with nearby vintners to source wine that they don’t intend to bottle. We’re turning un-used wine into award-winning gin, which is a win/win for everyone,” explains Hinterhaus co-founder and head distiller Nate Randall.
“We distill it on our 20-plate column still and vapor-infuse botanicals that are all native to our Sierra Nevada home including juniper berry, elderflower, rosehips, gooseberry and ginger root.”
The methodical process involved in crafting South Grove Gin at Hinterhaus retains the delicate floral aromas while bringing an opulent palate. Equally at home on the rocks as it is in classic G&Ts and gin cocktails, South Grove Gin reflects the terroir of Hinterhaus as well as the distillery’s ethos of crafting each product with care and local ingredients and collaborations.
South Grove Gin is now available for shipping to 41 states across the country on the distillery’s online shop on its website. It is also available for purchase at the distillery, as well as at a growing number of California and Colorado retailers including many Total Wine locations
