Shawn McCormick, owner and founder of Adairville, Kentucky-based B. H. James Distillers, proudly announces the launch and release of the new whiskey brand Burton James Uniquely American Bourbon during the distillery’s second anniversary celebration at B.H. James Distillers on Nov. 2 from noon to 6 p.m.
In addition to the new Burton James Bourbon, B.H. James Distillers will be releasing Burton James Uniquely American Whiskey: Five-Tool Player, the fifth batch in this series of award-winning American Whiskeys and an Age Your Own Bourbon Kit featuring Kentucky Grit Whiskey, distilled with local corn, rye and barley grown in Logan County, Kentucky. Also, all visitors to the distillery can be memorialized by signing a freshly filled Second Anniversary Kentucky Grit Bourbon barrel.
McCormick is excited to be celebrating this two year milestone. Reflecting on the long hours, and stress of running a business by himself McCormick says he couldn’t imagine doing anything else and it seems like a lifetime ago when he had a ‘real job.’ He adds, “it is finally nice to be home in Adairville after a lifetime of living elsewhere and I’m thankful to the city and community of Adairville for their support.” The cherry on top of all the hard work are the 77 awards his spirits have won in the brief 24 months he’s been making them.
The two new whiskeys will be available throughout Kentucky after their exclusive Saturday launch at the distillery. The new Burton James Bourbon is a blend of 7, 8, and 9 year old bourbon whiskeys from Indiana and Tennessee and bottled at 106.5 Proof (53.25% ABV). A limited quantity of a 111.1 Barrel Proof version will be exclusively available at the distillery while supplies last. The new Batch 5, Burton James Whiskey: Five-Tool Player is a blend of an 8.7 year old 21% Rye Bourbon, a 6.9 year old 36% Rye Bourbon, a 9.3 year old 45% Wheat Bourbon, an 8.7 year old 95% Rye Whiskey, and a 7 year old 99% Corn Light Whiskey. The Five-Tool Player is bottled at 105.6 Proof (52.8% ABV). A very small supply of a 116.0 Barrel Proof version is available exclusively at the distillery while supplies last. Additional batch details for each whiskey can be found at www.burtonjameswhiskey.com.
The new Kentucky Grit Whiskey Age Your Own Bourbon Kit is a fun and exciting way to become a whiskey maker and feel the excitement and eagerness of waiting to taste your aging bourbon. Each kit comes with two 1-liter bottles of Kentucky Grit Unaged Corn Whiskey as well as instructions, a new Charred American White Oak 2-Liter Barrel with stand, spigot and easily removable bung. A nice benefit of the kit is that the aging process is a short 6 to 8 weeks versus 6 to 8 years, allowing you to taste the fruits of your whiskey making labor without growing any gray hair.
Looking forward to year three and 2025, McCormick is excited about the possibilities of joining the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, expanding distribution, developing additional new products, and continued growth. He is slowly growing his product’s names and reputation as high quality premium spirits worth having on your bar and sharing with friends and family. Please stop by to help B.H. James Distillers celebrate its accomplishments and future success.
