Lonerider Spirits, sister craft distillery of Lonerider Brewing Co., released a cask finish bourbon whiskey that is a collaboration between the two companies. This beer-barrel finished bourbon is now available at ABC stores, restaurants and bars across North Carolina.
Lonerider Spirits’ first beer-barrel finished spirit, “Deadwood” Cask Finish Straight Bourbon Whiskey (45% ABV, $49.95), is a high rye bourbon whiskey with a mash bill of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley (all non-GMO). This straight bourbon is finished in ex-bourbon barrels that contained “Deadwood”—an award-winning barrel aged Russian nitro stout created by Lonerider Brewing Co.
“This spirit came together nicely and it shows some of the innovation we can spark from pairing Lonerider spirits and beer,” said Chris Mielke, president of Lonerider Spirits. “Finishing the bourbon in the barrels that held the stout gives the whiskey an added depth, brings out new flavors and really is something special for the bourbon or beer lover.”
