Oxbow Rum Distillery and Provost Farm Launch Limited-Edition Rhum Louisiane

Oxbow Rum Distillery of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is excited to announce the release of a limited edition of its award-winning Rhum Louisiane in collaboration with Provost Farm. Now available at select retailers in New Orleans, 100% of proceeds will be donated to the Provost Farm nonprofit, which is rooted in the legacy of Black sugarcane farmers in South Louisiana.

Oxbow’s story is a collective one of both entrepreneurship and recognition of the industry’s roots of racial injustice and the foundation of sugarcane. Oxbow Rum’s president Olivia Stewart says, “Our foundation in sugarcane was the product of the hard work and labor of enslaved Africans and generations of their descendants just as much as it was our family. Therefore, I see it as my responsibility to acknowledge and tell this story as well as forge paths of reconciliation to such history in ways that demonstrate truth, healing and racial justice.”

In an effort to put these words into action, Oxbow Rum Distillery is proud to partner with Provost Farm, which is dedicated to empowering the next generation of farmers through education, hands-on training and a commitment to sustainable agriculture.

Crafted from sugarcane grown by June and Angie Provost in New Iberia, which was burned just before harvest to produce earthy flavors with subtle smokiness, this exclusive release reflects both tradition and innovation. The cane was delivered to the Oxbow team for crushing before hauling the fresh juice to the distillery in Baton Rouge. Oxbow Rum’s President Olivia Stewart commented, “They came back to join us for the spirit run during which we made the final hearts cut together.”

Oxbow Rum x Provost Farm limited-edition Rhum Louisiane is available now at select retailers. For more information, follow Oxbow Rum Distillery on Instagram.
