Alpine Distilling, St. Regis Bar Unveil St. Regis Barrel Select Gin

The St. Regis Bar at The St. Regis Deer Valley and Alpine Distilling—both of Park City, Utah—announced that the second generation of the exclusive St. Regis Barrel Select Gin is now available.

The 600 bottles, aged for two and a half years in American oak barrels, are distilled, bottled and hand-labeled by Alpine Distilling and corked with German-engineered walnut bar stoppers. The additional years of aging results in a deeper complexity of flavor that only comes with time in the barrel. The long aging also created a gin with a richly-hued caramel color that is reflective of the unmatched luxury offered by The St. Regis Deer Valley and the adventurous innovation of Alpine Distilling.

The St. Regis Barrel Select Gin has a bold juniper-forward and light floral profile, incorporating notes of coriander, cardamom, angelica root, orris root, lemon peel and licorice root. Before distillation, the mash is soaked with Brazilian and Nicaraguan coffee beans to add a touch of acidity. The gin is aged in American oak barrels and cut with reverse-osmosis deionized water, which adds a slightly tannic note for a remarkably dry finish.

The botanicals include juniper berries from Croatia, coriander seed from Egypt, cardamom from Guatemala, angelica root from France, orris root from Morocco, lemon peel from American, licorice root from China, and coffee beans from Brazil and Nicaragua. The taste is juniper forward, light floral and bold, with a citrus, intense woody character, complex sweetness and dry finish.  The St. Regis Barrel Select Gin is priced at $365 for a 750-mL bottle, and is available for purchase at the Resort’s dining venues including the St. Regis Bar, RIME, La Stellina, Brasserie 7452 and Astor Bar. Resort guests are able to purchase St. Regis Barrel Select Gin directly via in-room dining.

The stunning Sego Lily-shaped custom bottle pays homage to Utah’s state flower and symbolizes resilience combined with beauty and a pioneering spirit. An unusual vantage of the Sego Lily can be viewed from the bottom of the bottle.

The St. Regis Barrel Select Gin is OU Kosher Certified and naturally gluten free and received the Gold Medal from the Women’s Wine & Spirits Awards in London. Alpine Distilling has earned numerous awards for its gins including Gin of the Year in London and Best Craft Gin from USA Today four times.

Sara Sergent, co-founder and co-owner, Alpine Distilling, said,“The Barrel Select Gin is a world-class, award-winning spirit that blends the beauty of the Wasatch Mountains and the unmatched luxury offered by the St. Regis Deer Valley and the adventurous innovation of Alpine Distilling.

“The considerable time Alpine Distilling invested in the botanical blend and distillation process combined with two and a half years of aging before bottling ensures a showcase gin. Enjoy Barrel Select Gin as a neat sipper, over ice, as an Old Fashioned, a French 75 or an original creation.”
