Whiskey Del Bac of Tucson, Arizona, announced the release of Sentinel Straight Rye Whiskey.
For this 92-proof whiskey, the distillery began with a sweet, bold blend of 3-year-old and 2-year-old 95% rye-5% malt straight rye whiskies distilled and aged in Indiana. The distillery finished this rye in freshly-harvested mesquited Whiskey Del Bac casks, then filtered it across a bed of mesquite charcoal from its mesquited malting process, inspired by traditional American whiskey production methods. Add a hot, Sonoran summer.
The result is a striking straight rye whiskey with the bold flavors of a traditional 95% rye, smoothed by the soft roundness of a hint of mesquite. Dubbed Sentinel, meaning “one who watches over or is the keeper of,” this rye is befitting of America’s oldest whiskey style while imbuing the essence of the desert.
